PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE

                           PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE  

DEFINITION:-

                        Such verb, which modifies that the subject started some work in past time and it was also continued in the same time that is called past perfect continuous tense.

NOTE:- (1)

                    This tense shows the continuity of an action from past to past.

EXAMPLE:-

(1)            Students had been making a noise in the class.

(2)            The post man had been bringing letters.

NOTE:- (2)

                 “Had been” is the helping verb to this tense.

NOTE:- (3)

                  “Ing” form of the verb is used in this tense.

FORMATION:-

= Safia had been waiting for result.

= Naheed had been studying an English book.

CONJUGATION:-

  I had been learning.

  We had been learning.

  You had been learning.

  He had been learning.

  She had been learning.

  It had been learning.

  They had been learning.

ASSERTIVE

(1)            You had been blaming me.

(2)            I had been awaking.

(3)            He had been accounting.

INTERROGATIVE

(1)            Had you been blaming me?

(2)            Had I been awaking?

(3)            Had he been accounting?

NEGATIVE

(1)            You had not been blaming me.

(2)            I had not been awaking.

(3)            He had not been accounting.

INT & NEG

(1)            Had you not been blaming me?
