PAST HABITUAL TENSE

                      PAST HABITUAL TENSE

DEFINITION:-
                        Such verb, which shows that the subject did some work in “habit” in past time that is called past habitual tense.
NOTE:- (1) 
                  This tense shows the habitual action of the subject in past time.
EXAMPLE:-
(1)            Asad used to revere the elders.
(2)            He used to go to the garden early in the morning.

NOTE:- (2)
                  “Used to” is the exclusive sign of this tense.
NOTE:- (3)
                  “Did” is it’s helping verb, it is used when we change as assertive sentence into interrogative, negative, interrogative and negative or emphatic.

NOTE:- (4)
                   Some time it is also used like past tense.
EXAMPLE:-
(1)            The people of Mecca worshiped idols.
(2)            Holy prophet (peace be upon him) preached of Islam.

NOTE:- (5)
                   This tense denotes discontinued habit or past situation too, which differs in present.
(1)            My father used to tell me funny stories, but doesn’t now.
(2)            You used to wait for me, but don’t now.
(3)            I used to play cricket, but don’t now.

NOTE:- (6)
                   Would is also used in this tense.
(1)            He would see me.
(2)            Anwar would go to school by car.
